Choosing a Rectangular Bathtub

The main decision with a rectangular bathtub is how it will be installed, since the same outline suits several setups. Our full range of bathtub styles covers other shapes for comparison.

• Freestanding: standalone tubs such as the Riva Milano V-Groove in matte white and black, in 1500mm and 1700mm sizes with a chrome pop up waste and plug included
• Back to wall and corner: models such as the Poseidon Avis and Enflair Brighton Groove come in left and right corner versions, and the Poseidon Multi-Fit offers a three way installation as back to wall, freestanding or corner fit
• Inset and built in: the Oliveri Dublin inset bath has a moulded tile bead for tiling down to or over the outer lip, and the Kaldewei Eurowa in enamel steel suits built in, undermount or island installation
• Spa: rectangular spa baths such as the Decina Carina Inset Santai with 12 jets and the Broadway Quadrato with 22 jets

Sizes, Materials and Capacity

Most rectangular baths in this collection fall between 1400mm and 1800mm long, with a smaller number of compact and extra long models at either end.

• Sizes: the Poseidon Multi-Fit comes in 1400mm, 1500mm and 1700mm, all 725mm wide, and the Kaldewei Eurowa runs from 1400mm to 1700mm at 700mm wide
• Capacity: the Poseidon Multi-Fit holds 198 litres at 1400mm, 222 litres at 1500mm and 232 litres at 1700mm
• Materials: sanitary grade acrylic is the most common, alongside solid surface from Turner Hastings, enamel steel from Kaldewei and stone from Gallaria and Pietra Bianca
• Overflow: both overflow and non overflow models are offered, with the Oliveri Dublin and Kaldewei Eurowa listed as non overflow

For a mid length option, a 1700mm bath is one of the most common sizes in the range.

Rectangular Bath Compared with Other Shapes

A rectangular bath is the most flexible shape for fitting against walls, while softer outlines suit open floor plans. An oval bath and a round bathtub work best with clearance around the tub, and a square bathtub offers a more compact footprint.

Rectangular designs also sit within the wider ranges of freestanding baths and modern bath styles. Custom package quotes bundle the bath, tapware and waste together, with trade and commercial pricing available.
