Choosing a Bidet Toilet Seat

A bidet toilet seat replaces your existing toilet seat, retrofitting onto a compatible toilet bowl to add warm water wash without replacing the whole toilet. Most models in this range are electric, adding heated seating, warm air drying and automatic hygiene features, while a handful of non-electric options give a simpler, lower-cost entry point.

Side control models sit lower in price and use a tank-based water heater, while remote control models generally add instant heating and more wash settings
An electric toilet seat needs a nearby power point, since heating, wash and drying functions all run on mains power
Non-electric bidets skip power requirements entirely, using your home's water pressure for a simpler wash function
Bowl shape matters: check whether your toilet is round, elongated or D-shaped before choosing a seat, since not every model fits every shape

Bidet Toilet Seat Brands and Models

This range brings together international and Australian brands, so features and price points vary depending on what you're after.

A TOTO toilet seat brings EWATER+ nozzle sanitisation and a heated seat, with tiers spanning the entry-level C2 through to the S7 with auto-open lid
Kohler smart toilet bidet seats are co-branded with Englefield, adding hybrid instant heating and oscillating wash to a remote-control unit
Lafeme, Lukka, DIB and Quoss round out the range with a mix of side and remote control models, plus Lafeme's non-electric Una and Vera options for a lower-cost choice
JOMOO and Attica bring additional electric bidet seats to the range, each with self-cleaning nozzles and adjustable water pressure as standard

Buying and Fitting a Bidet Toilet Seat

A few practical checks will help narrow down the right washlet or bidet seat before you order.

Confirm your toilet's bolt hole spacing against the seat's listed measurement, since a mismatch may need a universal adaptor
Check bowl shape and mounting compatibility against your existing toilet before ordering, particularly for round bowls where fewer models fit
For a fully integrated option rather than a retrofit seat, browse the smart bidet toilet seat range, where the bidet function is built into the toilet itself
If you're replacing the TOTO toilet pan as well as the seat, check compatibility between the two before ordering separately
For side-by-side comparison across every brand, our bidet toilet seat Australia range covers washlets and non-electric bidets together in one place
Warranty terms vary by brand and component, with electric models commonly covered for 1 to 3 years on parts

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a bidet toilet seat and a smart toilet?

A bidet toilet seat retrofits onto an existing or new separate toilet pan, so it's the option if you're not replacing the whole toilet. A smart toilet integrates the bidet function into the pan itself as a single unit.

Do I need an electrician to install an electric bidet seat?

You'll need a nearby power point, and a licensed electrician should handle any new wiring. Plumbing connection for the water supply should go through a registered plumber to meet AS/NZS 3500.1 requirements.

Will a bidet toilet seat fit my current toilet?

Most models are designed to fit a standard Australian S-trap toilet, but seat shape and bolt hole spacing vary by model. Check the bowl shape and mounting measurements listed on the product page before ordering.

What's the benefit of a non-electric bidet over an electric model?

A non-electric bidet skips the power point requirement and is generally lower cost, using your home's water pressure for a simple posterior and feminine wash. Electric models add heated seating, warm air drying and adjustable water temperature on top of the core wash function.

How long is the warranty on a bidet toilet seat in Australia?

Coverage typically runs 1 to 3 years on parts for electric models, with some brands offering longer terms on specific components. Always check the specific warranty listed on each product before buying.
